My name is Alexis Jo Murray. I am the mother of Kylie Jo and Peyton Whitehead. Horses have always been a big part of my life, whether it be family horse, my daughter’s pony Ella, or taking care of others’ horses. I was literally riding before I was born. My Mom had a thoroughbred mare named Tinkie that she rode while she was pregnant with me. My first lesson horse was a one-eyed quarter horse gelding named Winky. I mostly ride Western, but I do ride English, too. I spend my time taking care of others’ horses and teaching my girls to be great horsewomen. I am also a 4-H advisor, and I coach the junior horse bowl and hippology team. I was introduced to drill in August of 2023, when my youngest daughter, Kylie Jo, tried out for the Renegades and became a member of the team. I was ground crew and helped in any way I could. This included filling “holes” at practice. I was then placed on the team as a rider. I do not have my own drill horse now, so I ride Katie’s horses. My equine drill partner is Lancer, a flea-bitten gray quarter horse. We have both been on the team for a year. I am excited for the new season and am looking forward to new memories being made with our Renegade family. My favorite parade it the Piqua All Horse Parade, and my favorite event was performing at the Ohio State Fair for the Mid-Ohio Marauders, a mounted shooting organization. Although watching my daughter perform in Fantasia at the Massachusetts Equine Affaire was pretty awesome, too.
