My name is Ariel and my horse’s name is Smoke. I have been riding all my life. Smoke and I have been together for 16 years now. I began riding Tennessee Walking Horses in 4-H when I was a young child and after many years of searching for the right horse and discipline, I found Smoke and Drill Team! I originally wanted to contest but found out Smoke was pretty awesome in the show ring. Over the years we have done a little bit of everything including western, English, hunt, trail, reining, freestyle, contesting, versatility, and even trick riding. I heard about drill teams through a friend and have been riding on a team
ever since! I love the way the horses and riders work together to ultimately make a beautiful performance to fun and upbeat music My favorite performance with the Renegades was our trip to Kentucky Horse Park. We learned the drill in 3 weeks and put on a great show! Smoke seemed to slow down and not enjoy drill as much last season, so it may have been his last year for drill. We will keep listening to his body to see what he is up for this year! His mustang friend, Bandit, may have to step up to the plate to take his place so Smoke can enjoy the retirement he has very much earned and deserves.
