My name is McKenna Johnson, and I am 14 years old. I have been riding horses for 4 years now. I started riding English and jumping at a lesson barn in Worthington. Then we moved to Orient. A lot of people there ride Western and do barrel racing, so now I do that, too. The horse I have been riding is Lucky, a Morgan pony. He is a bit of a trickster, but he does well for me. I am in the process of transitioning to
Fergie, a quarter horse with a lot of sass. She used to be a barrel horse, and the biggest obstacle is getting her to rate. We are working on it. I got introduced to drill team when I moved next to Sheri, about 2 years ago. I started by riding with her in parades, then, a few months ago, there was an opening for a new member, and I got accepted to the team. We have a quad that has done well: 2nd in the August “Silver Spurs” competition, and 1st in the October “Outlaws” competition. Then, with 3 weeks to practice, I was placed on the long drill team. We placed 2nd in Theme on that, and 3rd in Freestyle. My favorite event so far has been the “Outlaws” competition, because we did so well. My favorite parade is
the Canal Winchester Labor Day Parade.
